Our student Karina Pearl Thorne presents her course on Creative Writing on #LearningRevolution Conference

Don't miss tomorrow, Saturday (9 May) at 11:00pm (UK time) the presentation by Karina Pearl Thorne at the Learning Revolution online conference on the design of her online course on Creative Writer Identity Development as part of her dissertation.
The presentation, titled "Creative Writer Identity Development for English Language Learners" is a call for English language learners and teachers to join a free online course in creative writing. The presentation will introduce the online course, the main digital tools, the weekly study schedule and the benefits for taking part.

Karina is a language learner, online English tutor, Masters student and Creative Writing enthusiast. She leads a small online community called Share Your Story with Confidence, focusing on reading, writing and positive thinking to boost creative output. When she can, Karina combines her personal passions with her academic studies, such as the project that will be presented in the learning revolution conference.

Publication based on a students' dissertation project

We are very proud to announce the publication of the article "Design of a Gamified Twitter Environment: Investigation of how Students' Personality and Attitude in Language Learning Affect their Participation" at the Digital Innovations and Research in Language Learning (edited by S. Mavridi and V. Saumell). The study is based on the dissertation project that one of our students, Bryan Kilvinski, designed and developed under the supervision of our tutors Angelos Konstantinidis and Ivan Lombardi.

Studentships for studying online at the Master of Arts in Digital Technologies for language Teaching

The School of Cultures, Languages and Area Studies is offering a number of studentships and fee waivers for students of the Master of Arts in Digital Technologies for Language Teaching. Masters studentships include home fees-only awards and home-fees plus stipend awards.
Application deadline: 11 May 2020

To be eligible to apply for School funding, you must be holding an offer of a place to study at the Master of Arts in Digital Technologies for Language Teaching of the University of Nottingham. You are advised to apply at least one month in advance to be eligible to apply for the studentship.

Tutorial on Active Worlds

Great tutorial on Active Worlds today, guided by Angelos Konstantinidis, with lots of questions answered, while students explored dance moves, flying, and costume change! Towards the end of the session, students freely explored a space created by one of our former students, Neill Wylie.

The book entitled "Professional Competencies in Language Learning and Teaching", edited by Cecilia Goria, Lea Guetta, Neil Hughes, Sandra Reisenleutner, and Oranna Speicher is now released and it is freely available online: https://doi.org/10.14705/rpnet.2019.34.9782490057399

This volume examines many of the complex issues regarding the language skills and professional competencies acquired by students studying Modern Foreign Languages at universities in the United Kingdom and across Europe. Christina will present part of her dissertation at the 28th ICDE World Conference on Online Learning in Dublin.

Call for abstracts for the "Radical Electric Teaching: A Conference and Showcase"

Future innovations in teaching and learning will evolve where new thinking in teaching, new approaches to curriculum design and management, and new technology come together in alignment. This two-day conference brings together university teachers and educators, learning technologists, practitioners and students to share the concepts, practices and technical applications that will form the educational settings of the future.

The conference is organised as part of the University’s development of ‘Applied English in the Augmented University’, a project based in the School of English that aims to develop a unique future vision of international education at distance, enabled by curricular and technological innovation.
