Survey about attitudes to postgraduate study - chance to win a free SanakoStudy Solo License

The social media promotion team of the Master of Arts in Digital Technologies for Language Teaching of the University of Nottingham (http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/language-centre/teaching/dtlt.aspx) is running a survey about attitudes towards postgraduate study. In addition, the survey aims to gather prospective students' opinion towards studying in the Master of Arts in Digital Technologies for Language Teaching.

Your participation in the survey will be greatly appreciated and will help us deliver better services to our future students. Also, respondents in the survey will have a chance to win a SanakoStudy Solo license (http://www.sanako.com/products/study-1200/study-solo/). The drawing will be conducted on 15 June 2015 and the lucky winner will be announced on the Facebook page of the MA in Digital Technologies for Language Teaching (https://www.facebook.com/UoN.MA.DTLT) and will be contacted via email.

The survey consists of 23 questions and will take approximately 5-7 minutes to answer.

And the winners of the Language Learning Lesson Plan Competition are…

We want to thank all those who took part in the “Language Learning Lesson Plan Competition”. We had some truly great lesson plans submitted and it was quite difficult to pick the winners. So, congratulations not only to the winners but to all entrants!
The two winners are: Sandi Ferdiansyah and Yağmur Damla Aslan (and her peers Nelida Nita, Tugay Elmas, Şule Akgün).
Sandi and Yağmur Damla will be awarded a SanakoStudy Solo License each.

Language Learning Lesson Plan Competition - Last day for the competition to end!

The social media promotion team of the MA in Digital Technologies for Language Teaching is hosting a lesson plan competition for all teachers or other educators worldwide. Teachers who enter the competition will have the chance to share their lesson plans in language learning with other teachers all over the world and get recognition for their work. Additionally, the best two lesson plans will be awarded a SanakoStudy Solo license (http://www.sanako.com/products/study-1200/study-solo/).

Lesson plans should include:
  • A title
  • A short introduction which includes students' age range, language level, type of institution (primary, secondary, university, college, etc.)
  • Lesson aims and objectives (no more than eight)
  • Description of the procedure of the lesson (approx 100 words)
  • Time required for completing each activity and the overall lesson
  • A list of the software/web 2.0 tools to be used
  • A list of the materials to be used (if relevant)
Lesson plans should normally fall between 700 and 1500 words in total (bibliography excluded).

The competition opened on 7th January and the lesson plan submission deadline is 7th March 2015 at 23:00 (UK time).

Terms & Conditions
  1. The content in the lesson plans must be the work of the contestant. Entries with plagiarized material will be excluded from the contest.
  2. Any images used in the lesson plans must be royalty free or correctly cited.
  3. The lesson plans should integrate digital technologies in language teaching.
  4. Each contestant can submit more than one lesson plans, but may win only one SanakoStudy Solo license.
  5. Although contestants can collaborate to create a lesson plan and enter the contest, there will be only one prize for each entry.
  6. The lesson plans must be sent to the digitaltechnologies4lt@gmail.com by the deadline. Late submission will not be considered. 
Judging Criteria
Competition entries will be assessed on the basis of the following criteria:
  • Clearly stated lesson aims and learning outcomes appropriate to the designated level(s)
  • Logically sequenced activities which support the achievement of the lesson aims
  • Technology integration in the learning activities

175 masters scholarships worth £10,000 each for entry on to taught courses

The University of Nottingham is offering 175 masters scholarships worth £10,000 each for entry on to taught courses in 2015.

Eligibility criteria
Applicants for this scholarship must be progressing from an undergraduate course for which they were charged the higher £9k tuition fee and be classed as a Home/EU student. In addition, applicants will need to hold an offer for a taught postgraduate course and fulfil one or more of the following criteria:
  • Care leavers - have been in public care for a minimum of three months prior to their entrance to university in 2012
  • In receipt of government funding in the form of a full maintenance grant and/or a National Scholarship Programme during the first year of undergraduate study (2012)
  • Women in STEM (restricted programmes)
  • Disability, long-term medical condition or specific learning difficulty
  • From a Black or Minority Ethnic (BME) group
